Procedures
●Warning up by learning about forming comparisons
●     Vocabulary and reading
1 Look and read.
Look at the maps and read these sentences. And then work in pairs to say where these cities are in China.
Cambridge is in the east of England.
London is in the south of England.
Bristol is in the west of England.
Manchester is in the north of England.
Beijing is in the north of China.
Guangzhou is in the south of China.
Nanjing is in the east of China.
Urumqi is in the north west of China.
2 Read and choose.
Read the passage and choose a title for each photo.
Photo a, Cambridge University and the River Cam
Photo b, Tower Bridge and the River Thames in London

Now you will go on to read the article on page 17, trying to cut/ the sentences into groups of thought, blacken the predicates, darken the connectives and underline the expressions.
3 Answer the questions. 
Where is Cambridge?→ Cambridge is in the east of England.
What’ its population? →It has about 100,000 people.
What is it famous for? → It’s famous for Cambridge University.
What’s the capital of UK? →London is the capital of UK.
Where is it? → London is in the south of England.
How old is it? →It is about 2,000 years old.
What’s in the north of England? → In the north of England there are some lakes and low mountains.
What’s in the west of England? → In the west of England you’re always near the sea. There are lots of small villages on the coast.
